First of all, Assalammualaikum w.b.t and happy blogging!!!
Today I will tell you about Medina Charter or in Malay, we call as "Piagam Madinah". What is Medina?. Actually, that is wrong question. The correct question is "Where is Medina?". Medina or Madinah Al-Munawwarah is a city in the Hejaz, and the Capital of the Al-Madinah Region of Saudi Arabia. This city contains Masjid An-Nabawi , which is the burial place of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad (Nabi Muhammad S.A.W) and the second -holiest city in Islam after Mecca.
Now, what is Medina Charter?? Written and promulgated by Prophet Muhammad for the multi-religious ten thousand-strong citizens of the city-state of Medina in 622. The Charter of Medina is the first written constitution. It was promulgated for a plural society, giving equal rights to every citizen as well as giving them a say in governmental matters. The Charter consists of 47 clauses, but due to different numbering, Prof. Hamidullah counts it to be 52 (FN5).
Among the main points covered in the Medina Charter is:
- 23 clause of the charter talks about the relationship between Islam among Muslims, between Ansar and the Emigrants.
- 24 clauses left to talk about the relationship of Muslims with non-Muslims, namely the Jews
There are three steps taken by Rasulullah S.A.W on a charter Medina:
The first step
Performed by the Prophet to build a mosque as a Muslim place of worship and place of the Prophet convey the teachings of Islam and the Prophet public administration.
The second step
Tying the brotherhood between the Ansar and the Emigrants, to create understanding and to help the immigrants start a new life with the help of the Ansar.
The third step
Covenant with the Jewish people so that together maintain Medina from external threats.
Among the aims of the Charter of Medina is:
- Facing a pluralistic society Madinah
- Establish rules that complied with all the people.
- Wants to unite the various communities
- Creating peace and took away enmity
- Making peace in Medina
- Define the rights and obligations of the Prophet Muhammad and the locals.
That's all for today...I will share with you if I found something interesting regarding human rights.
See you!! Assalammualaikum w.b.t
